Ottavio Nuccio Gala:
a great come back of the morning suit!
The 2010 broom collections feature
the new image of the contemporary Gentleman |
If the wedding is celebrated in daytime, the most suitable dress for the broom is the morning suit, with an ever-green elegance that has gone beyond every fashion fad without losing its attractiveness. In his Gentlemen collection, Ottavio Nuccio Gala introduces the classical tailcoat made with a single textile cut from the shoulders down to the tail, with no stitching around the waist. It has been designed and shaped with a view to stylizing the masculine figure, thus evoking an image of ever-green elegance and sober modernity.
The textiles used depend on the season with deep black satin of 100% wool from Biella (made in Italy) for the Fall-Winter season, while for Spring-Summer 100% extra-fine cool wool with different coatings - fil a fil, striped, bird’s eye, grisaille in anthracite grey and deep black. If one wishes to break the formal rules of the morning suit, the proposal for 2010 is 100% cotton satin in pastel colors to be a real lively Gentleman in the warm summer ceremonies.
The classical trousers for the morning suit come with more or less thin stripes in various hues of grey and black. Also the one-color version in the same textile as the jacket becomes very elegant if made with a satin or glossy effect fabric such as Nobility Super 150’s by Cerruti. |
Whatever the choice of the waistcoat whether classical or shawl-like the materials are silk, linen or wool in traditional colors such as grey, light blue, white, beige, wine red, pink and pearl, while ties in jacquard or solid color, 100% Italian silk from Como will uniquely personalize the outfit.
In line with the true British style, the morning suit should come with matching 100% silk jacquard waistcoat with satin tie and square; the shirt will be 100% “double twisted” cotton with turn-back cuffs for the cufflinks, with a white camellia in the same hue as the shirt, top-hat and walking stick.
For those who prefer a younger and more modern style, fashion designer Mario Moreno has made a suit with a redingote-cut jacket, similar to but not quite the same as a tailcoat since it has no tail. |

The “wedding running” mania is raging also in Italy
Brides run through the city in their wedding dress
Running along the streets wearing their wedding dress: they call it “wedding running” and it is the latest fad exploded on the Internet. It started in New York and, through the net, it has now reached Italy. Mary Jane Watson was the first to launch it in the Big Apple. Through a number of social networks, she invited her “friends” from all over the globe to take part in this game which is also an emotion the thrill to try and run away from the wedding before saying the fateful “I do”.
The first to do it in Milan were twins Carlotta and Giorgia Solari. Wearing their wedding dress, they ran as announced in the program that they circulated on YouTube, - from Corso Buenos Aires to San Babila, all the way to the Central Train Station, with astonished by-standers staring at them.
Other Wedding Runnings have been announced for the next few days in Rome and other Italian cities. This is an innovative interpretation of the “Hen Party” that draws inspiration from several movies and ads featuring a runaway bride, including “The Graduate” starring Dustin Hoffman, “Thelma and Louise”, “Runaway Bride” starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, and “Sex and The City” with Sarah Jessica Parker running away from her wedding along the streets of New York. |
